Bringing Cosy Back: 5 Tricks For The Ultimate Winter Hideaway
Colourful leaves are starting to adorn the pathways and there's a crisp chill in the Autumn air. Autumn brings with it time to enjoy gorgeous comfort food and cosy up by the fire. Creating a cosy and inviting space to enjoy over the shorter days ahead is something that can be easily achieved, on any budget. These five simple steps are sure to create a warm and snug space:
1. Fur It Up
Furs have an amazing ability to make a space look warm and inviting and there are so many varieties of faux fur around these days, meaning you can create a soft and comfortable space with very little investment.
2. Seasonal Centre Pieces
Greenery and flowers are scientifically-proven mood enhancers and during these cooler, grey days of autumn and winter some seasonal colour is the perfect pick me up! A trip to nearby parks or forest would also be well worth while to gather pines, greenery and some brightly coloured autumn leaves to help create a beautiful display.
3. A Bed Topper
As if we need any more difficulty removing ourselves from the comfort of a cosy warm bed on winter mornings! But you just can't beat a great nights sleep during the cooler months. For a serious nights sleep and a cosy place to laze during weekend lie-ins, a super soft mattress topper will transform your slumber and feel like you're sleeping on a cloud. Then layer your bed up with a soft feather duvet and a few textured throws.
Textures like wool, fur and cashmere add instant warmth just by their appearance, and add some Egyptian cotton sheets, a scented candle (lavender will do just nicely) and your bed will become the perfect winter hideaway - everyone deserves a good duvet day!
4. Candle Displays
Who doesn't love the flicker of candlelight? Using lanterns filled with candles, cute tea-light jars or even filling the fireplace with a range of candles in different sizes makes for a seriously snug and cosy atmosphere.
5. Cushion Layers
To me, a house becomes a home when textiles are introduced. They just have a wonderful way of adding warmth and homeliness that we all love. Cushions are a great cheap way of layering up a variety of different textures, creating a comfy, homely space that no-one will want to leave!
