Hi.

I'm Moya, welcome to my blog! Designology is where I share all the things that inspire me and ignite my love of design.

Etsy In Ireland

Etsy In Ireland

I've always been a big fan of Etsy - not only for its gorgeous, one-of-a-kind offerings but for their ethos as a creative company. In case you're not familiar with it, Etsy is an online market for craftspeople and small businesses. As a company they pride themselves on togetherness and community spirit - they support their sellers and in turn their sellers support each other. It's a community thing.

Recently Etsy have launched the hashtag #etsyirl - which has two components to it. As Irish buyers and sellers it's the Etsy Ireland hashtag that will help spread the word about Irish makers, sellers, creatives and their products.

It's second significance is a really interesting one - the hashtag also signifies Etsy 'In Real Life'. Etsy is so much more than an online market place, it's a community that brings together creative minds, buyers and sellers; and said community has come to have massive significance in the real world.

The Etsy community connects likeminded people - it aids collaborations, it supports artists, makers, crafters and their families by providing a platform and a community of people looking for unique, handmade pieces.

'Etsy is more than a marketplace: we're a community of artists, creators, collectors, thinkers and doers'

I recently had the pleasure of seeing Etsy in real life when I was invited to their Dublin HQ for an afternoon of craft, food and a tour of the building Etsy Ireland calls home. Every employee's desk is filled with trinkets and decorations sourced from the community - at the very least each and every employee is an Etsy buyer (but many of them are sellers too).

What I loved most about their Dublin office is that every corner, every room and every item tells a story - the story of a Dublin Street Artist, a talented Polish Tapestry Designer or my personal favourite the Spanish couple who completely lost their minds when they were approached to produce their tin lamps for each of the eighty-plus desks in the Dublin Etsy Office.

Etsy has given me hours and hours of e-tail therapy so I wanted to share some of my favourite Etsy shops for all things homeware and lifestyle:
